Currently the only insurance I accept is Blue Cross. If you have Blue Cross, I will submit our sessions to your insurance and you will pay what is dictated in your plan, whether that be covering the full amount until you reach your deductible or paying a copay/coinsurance.
If you would like to use your insurance but do not have Blue Cross, call your insurance carrier prior to scheduling an appointment to determine your out-of-network benefits. Depending on your health insurance or employee benefit plan, you may receive a partial reimbursement for sessions. Please note that a mental health diagnosis is still required in order for you to submit a claim to your insurance even for out-of-network billing. Another alternative is to use your HSA/FSA to pay for counseling.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask me, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you agree to a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than the estimate, you can dispute the bill. Learn more at www.cms.gov/nosurprises
